What is Red Light Therapy? ☀️
Light does more than help us see — it also interacts with the body in some pretty amazing ways.
Red and near-infrared wavelengths are naturally present in sunlight, and research has shown that these specific wavelengths can influence biological processes within our cells and tissues. Red Light Therapy, scientifically known as photobiomodulation (PBM), gives us a way to deliver targeted amounts of these beneficial wavelengths directly to the body.
That's especially beneficial in our modern world, where both people and animals often spend much more of their time indoors and away from the full spectrum of natural sunlight. RLT offers a simple way to intentionally provide specific red and near-infrared wavelengths when natural sun exposure isn't always feasible.
So what actually happens when that light reaches the body?
Cells contain molecules that can absorb photons of red and near-infrared light. This interaction can influence mitochondrial function and cellular signaling, including the production of ATP — the energy our cells use to do their jobs. This is one of the mechanisms researchers believe contributes to photobiomodulation's effects on inflammation, circulation, tissue repair and recovery.
Think of it as giving the body more targeted light-based support for processes it already knows how to do.
There are no needles or medications involved, and the goal isn't to force the body to do something unnatural. It's a gentle, non-invasive way to use specific wavelengths of light to support the body's own natural processes for comfort, recovery, healing and overall wellness.

Depending on your animal and what we're hoping to support, I'll choose the appropriate AnimaSol product and position it over the desired area while your animal relaxes. Sessions generally range from 15-30 minutes.
RLT can be incorporated into a regular Country Wagz visit or scheduled as a standalone wellness session.
And because every animal is different, I'm always happy to talk through what you're hoping to accomplish and whether RLT might make sense for your dog, cat, horse, or other companion animal.
